TDS/Conductivity Test with HACH SensION5
Note: Instruments are calibrated before each use.
1. Turn meter on, and be sure electrode is securely attached.
2. Fill a small white plastic cup with DI water. Rinse electrode in DI water and wipe off excess with a Kim wipe.
3. Dip the electrode in a TDS standard pouch of 447 mS.
4. Press CAL, then use the arrow keys to scroll to 18.00 mS/cm. Then use the key pad to enter 447.0 and press ENTER.
5. When the reading stabilizes the meter will store the standard information and switch to measuring mode.
Measuring
1. The samples will be poured into small cups and numbered at the Fill Station, where you can pick them up and bring them to the TDS/Conductivity station.
2. Put a stir bar in the sample and place the cup on a stir plate. Turn the stir plate on so that the bar continuously mixes the sample.
3. Rinse the electrode in the cup of DI water and shake or wipe off excess with a Kim wipe.
4. Press TDS to measure Total Dissolved Solids, or press
COND to measure Conductivity.
5. Place electrode in sample, being sure electrode is submerged.
6. Meter can be switched between TDS and COND without removing the electrode from the sample. Record both.

7. Be sure to rinse the electrode with DI water between samples.
8. When done with the samples, take them to the pH station.
